Southforward.com – Germany is reportedly ready to attack Syria and join the United States (US) if the country continues to use chemical weapons attacks on civilians.
Reporting from Reuters on Monday (09/09/2018), this was revealed by the German Ministry of Defense in a statement to the media.
As reported earlier, President Bashar al-Assad is suspected of using chemical weapons attacks in Syria against innocent civilians.
The issue of the use of chemical weapons was increasingly widespread after Assad and Russian forces wanted to attack Idlib on a large scale. Idlib Province is the largest and last rebel base to be crushed. The region is believed to be the last battleground of the Syrian civil war.
German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen is exploring German options to engage in military retaliation against Bashar al-Assad’s army.
Reports regarding German threats to join in bombarding the Damascus regime were released by Bild.
In April 2018, the United States, Britain and France stormed a number of sites in Syria with hundreds of cruise missiles after Damascus soldiers were accused of attacking Douma, a city near Damascus, with chemical weapons.
At that time, German Chancellor Angela Merkel rejected Berlin’s participation in the “military action” trio of the allies.
But, there is currently a radical change in Merkel’s foreign policy. Changes began when Washington approached Chancellor Merkel’s office.
