Southforward.com – A Romanian jet incident reportedly crashed while conducting an air show on Sunday local time.
Reported from Russia Today, Monday (9/7/2018), This is also confirmed by the Ministry of Defense Romania in a press release to reporters.
The plane was known type Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 Lancer crashed about 10km north of the Fetesti Air Base in Calarasi County.
The plane pilot, Lieutenant Commander Florin Rotaru (36) was also reportedly killed in the place where the accident occurred.
The aircraft then exploded in front of thousands of spectators. Images from the scene show flames of fire and thick smoke.
Witnesses told local television that the pilot might choose to fall on a nearby field as a way of avoiding the crowd. According to Reuters, about 4,000 people attended the air show.
Mikoyan-Gurevich Aircraft MiG-21 Lancer is a fighter and supersonic interceptor aircraft designed during the Soviet era by the Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau.
