Southforward.com – The United States military (US) responded to China’s complaints over the passage of two US warships in the Taiwan Strait.
Reported by Reuters on Monday (7/9/2018), it was delivered by US Pacific Fleet spokesman Captain Charlie Brown in a press statement.
He said that the passage of both US vessels was a routine US transit through international waters on 7-8 July.
“The US Navy ships transit between the South China Sea and the East China Sea through the Taiwan Strait and have been doing so for years,” Brown said.
An official in the US in an anonymous condition said that the two ships were destroyers USS Mustin and USS Benfold.
Earlier, Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said American ships were moving northeastward and the voyages were still in line with regulations.
Beijing claims Taiwan as its naughty province and never willing to recognize it as a country.
As reported earlier, the Chinese side commented strongly on the US action that crossed the Taiwan strait. They say the US has been doing military provocation.
