Southforward.com – US President, Donald Trump is rumored to be consulting with his Defense Minister, Jim Mattis before making a decision on dismissal of joint military exercises with Japan and South Korea.
Anadolu page reported on Wednesday (13/06/2018), Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo will also take part in making the decision.
This is stated directly by the Pentagon. Currently, the Pentagon is also awaiting the official decision of President Trump to withdraw its troops from the Korean Peninsula.
“He’s not surprised, he’s consulted, the Minister (Mattis) has been in full consultation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Mike) Pompeo and the President,” Dana White, the Pentagon spokesman said.
“He was not surprised, he was consulted, the Minister (Mattis) has been in full consultation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Mike) Pompeo and also the President,” White said, adding Mattis was in tune with Trump for denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
“We welcome the results.We support them,” he added.
Trump earlier made an announcement about the termination of joint military exercises during an unprecedented meeting on Singapore’s Sentosa Island yesterday where he and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed a “comprehensive” agreement, beginning a process of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.
